G.M.B. (The Showcase) Summer Grind Issue 2012

Royalty Magazinie: What's good? How's 2012 been treating you so far?

G.M.B.: Well first off we wanna say thank you for giving us the opportunity to get the word out about us, so far 2012 has been our best year yet. We've come along way with our music fan base and opportunities to showcase our talent across the midwest.

Royalty Magazinie: Well half the year is already gone, what are your goals or plans for the second half of the year? What upcoming projects or tracks should we be checking for?

G.M.B.: Well with half the year being gone already, are main goal for the the remainder of the year is to get more involved with the community by doing more shows and continuing to show people who we are and how we are not just your average rap group.

With our latest track "Ciroc" being our first single, thats our main focus at the moment but we plan to hit the streets hard with many more such as "Go Ham" feat. Greze Gutta," Kill Yo Self" ", "Who Want Some", and "Twisted".

Royalty Magazinie: How do you feel about the current state of hip-hop? How would you compare your music to the world of hip-hop today?  Also, do you consider yourself an emcee or a rapper?  Do you think there is a difference between the two?  Please elaborate.

G.M.B.: When we think about the current state of Hip-Hop the first thing that comes to our minds are three letters.... "W.T.F"! Its seems like most of the up and coming artist of today are all copy cats. Nobody has their own sound and it just seems like whatever is being played on the radio is their "style". To be honest, we don't feel there is a comparison with us and others out right now. Don't get it twisted, we still got our club bangers and songs for the ladies but what we mean is we're trying to do it unlike anything you've ever heard before.

When it comes to the title "emcee" or "rapper" this is where us as a group have different opinions. Me, (ILL WILL) and B-Nasty feel we are both because when we hear other rappers such as common, Nas or lupe that have that higher thinking type flow, thats when the term emcee comes to my mind and in which case we are just rappers, but at the same time when we hear artist such as Soulja Boy, Lil B or Waka then we feel as if we are emcees. Just for the record we are not hating on anyone because we feel everyone has their own style but compared to the first group of people we named hopefully you can see where we are coming from. Slim on the other had feels as if he is a emcee because he feels the difference between the two is that a rapper dosent go into depth on what they have to say, they just rhyme some words and put it on wax. An emcee on the other hand, challenges his/herself to put words together and turns them into a story that consist of originality, swagg, & truth.

Royalty Magazinie: Speaking of the current state of hip-hop, are you familiar with the term hip-pop? Are you feeling hip-pop at all or do you think it has an impact on the watering down of hip-hop?

G.M.B.: We are familiar with the term Hip-hop and to us hip hop isn't watered down, it's evolving.

Royalty Magazinie: How do you feel about the controversy behind Chris Brown & Drake? Do you think it went down like the media is reporting it did? If so, what message do you think that it is sending to our young people? What do you think its saying about the industry in general and/or the mentatlity of the people involved?

G.M.B.: Well we have only heard bits and pieces of the story and to be honest we all started laughing about it the minute we found out it went down. Mainly because us being who we are, the next thing out of our mouths were, "who do you think would win? Drake or Chris?" It was a unanimous decision but we came to the conclusion that drake don't want it with Chris Breezy! In all seriousness though we feel as if the media is always blowing things out of pa portion and more then likely it wasn't that deep. Either way it's not a good look for the youth. Especially when a lot of the youth today don't have that father figure role model and turn to the artist as there role models. As far as how it reflects on the industry and the people involved we feel as though it doesn't really speak for the industry but more for the individuals involved.

Royalty Magazinie: If you had a chance to appear in the BET Cypha, what artists would you team up with? What beat would you rock to?

G.M.B.: If we had the chance to appear in a Cypha on Bet our dream team would consist of , Webbie ( B-Nasty's pick), Eminem (ILL Will's Pick), and Kevin Gates (Slim's pick). As far as the beat goes, we felt that was a no brainer for us, Renegade by Jay-Z feat Eminem was our pick.

Royalty Magazinie: Any last words, comments or shot outs? Anything you want to touch basis on that we haven't already?

G.M.B.: We wanna give a shout out first and formost to Royalty Magazine for giving up and coming artist a voice to be heard. We also wanna shout out the homie Big Greze and the whole Gutta Gang camp for all the support, Silverback Ent. out of Shreveport, Louisiana.

Royalty Magazinie: How can people keep up with you and/or check out your music? What sites or radio stations can people catch you on?
